My first guess would be that you have a wheel cylinder sticking Sam. Did you rebuild the cylinders, I mean a good thorough rebuild?
Also shoes used to come with the leading edges tapered, now days they are all square. I always take a file and taper the leading edge back about 3/8" and about half the depth of the shoe thickness.
