Stats: '62 Chevy C-10. Inline 6. Four on the floor. Granny low. One barrel carb. Distributor is back between the 4th and 5th spark plugs. Has the long inspection plate on the distributor side of the engine.
The parts guy at the Chevy dealership says the long inspection plate means it's a 292, but I saw somewhere on the net that the 292 wasn't put into pickups until '63.
What do I check to know for sure?
P.S. We put 292 plugs into it as part of a tune-up and noticed that the threads were longer on the plugs we installed than on the plugs we removed. I don't know if that's important. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
