IF hitting the brake caliper/rotor w/a mallet or hammer does nothing then I would just break down & remove the brake pads. As far as why they stick, well it could be any number of things BUT my guess would be rust between the brake rotor & pads, or it could be a froze caliper or collapsed brake hose or a combo of any of them...Joe
