Bad connection on the positive battery terminal starting without trouble now,I feel kind of embarassed about that.Great advice though Stuart, ammeter needle started moving as soon as I touched it and kept charging after gruond was removed from field terminal.Just prior to this after I got the truck running I took it around our country block and it started showing a charge part way, shut it off ,started it again and again no movment on the ammeter while revving till I used Stuarts remedy.
