thanks josiah and stuart for the help. unfortunately, i tried reusing the broken 'pin' after getting the bushings replaced. i figured it was holding before... but i thought i'd better try to find a replacement to be safe. then it hit me, why the 'pin' had a sharp edge like a drill bit. because it IS a drill bit shank that's been broken off and shoved in there. who knows how long its been holding like this.
any information on what should go in there and where i might find it would be appreciated by me and my wife, who can't get her van back into the garage until i fix this!
