Hy medimax11769, So many things it could be, just the fact that the gears are sitting still and not changing their relationship to one another, it could be the shifter itself, but I don't think so because it will shift into reverse, it could be the shift rails inside the top cover. Try turning the engine by hand a bit and see if you can find any other gear,hope this helps.
