my rv has a regular alternator and 2 batteries with a isolator the engine battery only runs the engine part and the coach battery runs my fridge, tv, microwave, pc, etc ,etc with no problems if the battery for the coach gets drained the isolator keeps power from being drained from the engine battery. in turn only the battery that needs charging at the time gets charged by the alternator breaking up the load so to speak also, my ac to dc converter also has a charger built into it so it charges the coach battery when were plugged into shore power. how ever our fridge only runs for a breif time to cool the food store and then stays closed and cold untill hooked to shore power. for long drives the fridge thermostat kicks it back on when it needs to cool. hope that helps
