Help me out here please, I'm a little cornfused (not to worry, nothing new). Dennis' engine no. (F0523B) was identified as a '57. Where is the year code in that no.? When they went to this format (apparently sometime in 1957) they continued it for several years so wouldn't that same number have been used in '58, '59 and possibly later? Don't we need to look at the casting numbers on this one to pin the year down?
You have a valid point. I just double checked the book, and it does list a B code engine up to at least '60 (my book doesn't go past '60 for passenger engines), so checking the date code near the starter might be in order. The B code comes up the same for all years, 235 W/Powerglide.
