I have to go out to help a friend. I'll post a diagram and photo of the 54 valve cover decal later this evening, if no one else does. The decal location in shown in the 47-55 Factory Assembly Manual. It is on the passenger side, half on the side and half on top, I dimly recall (a different decal and location, compared to pre-54 valve cover decals).
Can you post a photo of your air cleaner. The were 2 or 3 styles.
