The plug is the same as used on the old 1/2 ton on up. You can get them at any of the specialty parts stores & I'm thinking it is available in the Help line of parts at many parts stores. You can usually get the old plug out with a hammer & chisel.I think What you are looking at on the side is the pinion side thrust adjuster.
