Both the Carters and the Holleys have their advantages and disadvantages. One of Holleys big advantages is the availability of parts, such as the kit you mention.
On the other hand, one of the Carters big advantages is total control of the primary fuel circuit (via metering rods and springs) without opening the carburetor.
