Well if any of you were looking at my last post, its not timing anymore, its starting a 216 (I believe). I just got an installed a brand new 12V starter (its a 12V system). And it spun great the first 10-15seconds of cranking and the starter got warm, understandable. We'd try it again and the starter would get progressively slower and turn the engine slower and slower eventually to the point where it would'nt even spin the engine and you could hear it trying but not able to spin it. We tried pulling the plugs and oiling the walls but nothing. When the cranking started to slow we put a battery charger (selected to 12V 400cranking amps) and still nothing other than making the starter get extremely hot. I'm afraid we've fried the starter already (its only 12 hours old).

Any ideas??? I appreciate all the input seeing as I'm a young and inexperienced bolter.
