The only reason to go with the 4.3 would be a fuel injected version. I would also go for the Vortec version as it has better heads, balance shaft and 190hp. to go with a carb, etc. on a non-vortec is all the money and work of a V8, and only half the power.
Then again, it is your ride, and this is my opinion.
