Are you sure that it is a Newport wiper motor? Are you sure that it is installed to the vent bracket? My 52 bolted up just like the original wiper motor. To mount it someplace else would have taken a fair amount of modification. It should bolt up with two bolts, star washers, and nuts in the original holes. yes it is tight. I had to remove the vent bracket to be able to install the wiper motor. If the wipers work I would guess that the vent bracket has problems.
