For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 126 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 126 | My problem: The detroit that I have will not fit uner the narrow hood as it is in the shape of a triangle and it measures only 25" at the front of the hood opening, (left to right). (1946 chevy) the pic is below. Thought maybe an older Perkins or John Deere? Ive searched the specs on some of the generator motors stating 190hp and good torque at 2200rpm, hopeing to find similar specs on some older engines. Could John Deere motors be used as a road motor. I know the marine engines are emissions compliant to some degree but my old truck is not emissions compliant so I think there is a grey area. I can make it emissions happy but what options in John Deere and perkins realy exist. Ebay and craigslist have not been very helpful this time. I have checked AIS here in Michigan but goose eggs is all I got. Seems all the cummins engines are $5000.00 or higher and wanted a little more than the 4bt 3.9L. http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd15/46cabover/12-15-08_1103.jpg | | |
