I buy Sunnen honing oil in 5-gallon lots for my valve grinder and rod hone, and swipe a little for cylinder honing. A good substitute is 30W motor oil and Varsol solvent (mineral spirits), in a 50/50 mix. HOT water, Tide, and lots of elbow grease with a scrub brush is the only way I know to get the residual grit out of the cylinders after honing. I once wore out a set of rings in 2500 miles, from a solvent cleanup after a honing job!
