thanks for the reply. I do have mine in a cast b/housing behind a 283 and had to do a few mods to it.
I am just trying to fathom the difference between the housu=ings as it should still be the same measure from the face of thre bellhousing through to the pilot bushing in either housing; therefore the frt brg retainer (T5) should be in the same relative space in either housing in relationship to the clutch disc (unless there are varying lenghtd in T5 frt brg reatainers and some get lucky in their install.
there may be a different? ball stud in an aluminum housing that may have a bearing on the depth of the release brg. a thinner flywheel can have a bearing on clearances though or machining of a flywheel could possibly make up the differnce for vlearance on the return of the clutch disc
not picking at you , just trying to understand what the variances could be that makes the housings different
