i am fairly sure the blocked hole is the path for the gas to enter the carb throat. i have never worked on a rochester b before but i could not find any other way for the gas to get there. by looking at the cut away in the factory manual for the truck (54 3600) the passage that was plugged is in the diagram.

it looks as though when the "t" shaped stopper was pressed into place it was pressd right on top of the exit passage.

it works fine/better. oddly, the old accelerator pump works better then the new. the new one did not put a strong stream of gas into the carb throat.
