I got my truck in '03 and it had '76 license plates. It looked like it had been that long since started. Motor was stuck: lots of penetrating oil in spark plug holes, Drained/changed oil, new spark plugs and wires, filed/adjusted old points, after 2 weeks of patience a new 6 volt battery and started turning it over with the starter. Disassembled/cleaned carb, temp gas can, clean water in the radiator - and it started. It ran about 20-30 minutes with the old hoses and fan belt when the belt gave way.
Aren't old trucks fun!! 5 1/2 years later and I have yet to take the head off. New water pump, some radiator work, new belts/hoses and some gaskets.
Runs great!
