It was the mainshaft bearing and the clutch gear bearing that were pretty buggered. I'm still getting a lot of driveline noise when in top though and am waiting for a guy who has done a lot of work on these drivelines to come and take it for a drive. I can just about get the throwout rattle to disappear if I adjust the pedal to the point where it has way too much free play.
