I finally got it removed. There were small set nuts on the control knobs for the wipers,choke, and headlights. I removed that nut, slipped the knob off then unscrewed the chrome plate holding the back of the knobs on and it came right off. The spedo cable was very easy to remove, it just had the one nut holding it on and i was able to hand loosen it. The only knob that did not work this way was the head light, i had to take the drimmel and cut it at the base of the knob to remove it. A new one is only 10 dollars at lmc.
