The side motor mounts are the biggest challenge and I think you'd find a fair bit of other tinkering. Take your manifolds off (bolted together), and have them planed at a machine shop. The GMC 270 is a good motor, I'd stick with it if the manifold is the only problem...even though the 292 is also a very good motor.
Are you sure it's a 270? The standard engine was a 248, I'm not sure if the 270 was available in the 2-ton line. | | |
