Carter for years was a division of ACF industries.

Federal Mogul purchased Carter in the mid-1980's (corporate raider on FM's board of directors). As to the on-line articles you mentioned; in spite of what many of the younger generation may believe, VERY LITTLE of mankind's knowledge is currently on the web. Those who use the web as their only source of knowledge miss a lot! Maybe in a few hundred years!

We have 150,000 cores; including at least one of most of the W-1's. Of those used by Chevrolet, there may be one or two of the "fleet" units that we don't have, not sure. Still have more apart that will be finishing and adding to the article.

Many enthusiasts have not seen the 222s with the "T" nor the "fleet" units, many of which were painted a different color. While most W-1's were painted black, many of the fleet units were painted brown. Gray was used on some other makes.
