I think replacing the wiring is a good idea. I didn't, I coated the last six or eight inches of all the wires with liquid electrical tape. I was amazed to find that the original wiring on my '50, was tinned full length. Just another reason I like my truck. I do agree with Bill B, though, cloth covered wire looks right in my opinion.
