You are correct on pulling the brake adj. tool handle up to tighten the brakes. You dont fill it through the drain plug. Put the lower (drain plug) plug back in after draining the old fluid. Fill the trans through the plug on the side (fill plug) to the lower level of the opening. It will hold 5-6 pints. Do not over fill it as there is no seal on the front & it can leak out on a steep downhill.
