I pulled the 4 speed tranny out of my 51 3100 yesterday. Things went smoothly, for the most part following the shop manual. However, it said to jack the tube up and then slide the transmission back to free it from the clutch. Problem is the tube was still in the way and had to horse the transmission out kind from the side with a floor jack under it. Scared that I am going to have the same issue puttin it back in. Is something easier than taking that crossmember off? Good news the transmission was in great shape internally, clutch plate, not so much. The 235 is not origninal. wondering if that made a differece? any thoughts?
