The 54/55 radio delete plate is about as hard to find as an original radio (the covers for the control-knob/stem holes can often be found at hardware stores). I thought that someone was selling reproduction plates but I cannot find one. They show up on eBay every so often (about as often as radios show up).

If you want an original look, and you do not want to pay for a NOS ($1,000+), rebuilt ($500+), or 12v reproduction ($500+), or non-working original ($200) radio and you have a radio delete plate, Scott's idea of a 12v hidden radio sounds good.

However, putting anything over the embossed Chevrolet bow-tie on the delete plate would be difficult and would not look very original. I do not know if there is anything embossed on the 54/55 (Z-series) GMC delete plate (but that delete plate is even harder to find).
