Cavebull, I have the original 1950 rear in the truck now but as you said it is a closed drive and I want to switch to open drive shaft. That being the case I knew I would have to spend the $ for the driveshaft and I'm OK with that however I wasn't aware that a later punkin would work with the housing I have. The 3.90 gear would be great I think and changing saddles is a piece of cake. As long as I don't have to look for a 55 1st series to get it (I would think that would be a pretty rare piece) and can look for something up through 61. Gives me alot more to look for anyway.
