Stock or near stock small block shouldn't be too much of a problem. The T5 I have came out of an 85 Camaro V8. Granted it was a 305 but they were also used behind 350's in Camaro/Firebird and I believe Corvettes. If your not too crazy on the horsepower you should be OK.
