I'll second that don't drop it on yourself thought!
I've been removing the steering column too, making removal easier because you don't need to go as high, and don't need to have the truck or cab shift as the cab comes off.
Also I use my cherry picker with a 'cab lift' instead of a chain fall or come-along. The cab lift is a simple as a 4x4 laid on top the boom, with a couple of 2x6 pieces vertical on the back end that allow securing the 4x4 to the boom.
Another member built the one I used and its been in my shop since we used to move a cab that belongs to him. I seem to use it frequently and have removed both AD and S-10 cabs with it. Someday he'll ask for it back, and I'll need to build my own.
