So, as you all know, finding 8 lug 16" wheels with the correct backspacing can be a very difficult task. I finally gave up, saved my pennies (a LOT of pennies), and had Stockton Wheel make me a set for my 3800 panel. I waited about 5 weeks for delivery and ordered up 2 215/85/16 for the front and 2 235/85/16 for the rear.
About a week ago I started having second thoughts and doubting myself... "Did I say 2-1/2" backspacing or 3-1/2"?" Don't you hate it when you second guess yourself? I checked back in with the 'Bolt forums and verified that 3-1/2" was what seemed to be the answer.
Sure enough, they showed up and were 2-1/2". I thought "what the heck... let's find out" and had the tires mounted anyway. This afternoon I bolted 'em on and everything looks pretty good! It has a little wider stance and the 235's in the rear really fill out the fender nicely! Right on the front edge of the fender they are pretty close tho. Do you guys think that about 3/4" is enough clearance between front edge of tire and fender? If it's going to be a problem, I guess I could just trade the 235's for 215's and gain a little room that way. The front wheels have loads of clearance through their full travel and are WAY off the steering linkage. Anything ELSE I should watch out for?
I may be the only guy on this site who wishes he had a little MORE backspacing on his wheels. Just thought I'd check in with the latest chapter in my neverending project.
