I was experimenting on the bench to see what value was needed. My truck is still 6 volts. If I change over to 12 volts some day, I might go with the resistor method. The reason for going that way is to keep the radio in it's original form. They can be converted to 12 volts but that requires a donor transformer from a 12 volt radio.
