Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I tend to agree with 64fleetside and ftyler about the overdrive----just seems to make since to me. I also agree with ftyler about the reduced engine wear with lower RPMS. Like Rance, I'm not a physics major, but it seems the energy will be diverted somewhere else like the reduction gearing. What does a "taller" rear end mean? ----a higher gear ratio? Not sure what my 71 has, only that it's the original. Can anyone give me examples of the "taller" rear ends I need to be looking for?
