I was looking through the local yard and was working on removing a manual box out of a Toyota. The motor was gone but I didn't see any lines going to the box or any holes or plugs where lines would go. The wheel turned like a manual. I ended up not getting it though as I decided against it.
Anyway, Ive decided to put power steering on my truck. A few modifications to do it though. 1, my truck has an alternator, which once I finish designing and cutting/welding the bracket together, the alt will be mounted on the passenger side of the block, to the side of the head and water pump. This weekend Im going to the yard again to look for a good GM saginaw "canned ham" power steering pump with a single groove pulley, and then I will begin designing and cutting/welding the bracket to mount the pump where the alternator/generator originally was. Once I verify this setup works I will make a few more brackets to sell or make the plans available to those who can cut/weld the pieces together themselves.
Then the next step is to come up with brackets that will keep the alt/gen and p/s pump on the drivers side of the block.
I have a clifford 4bbl intake/carb and tube headers on my 235 so space was tight on the driver side of the engine, thats why the alternator is being moved to the passenger side.
