Why use wire conductors instead of the more practical resistance wires? There are some serious problems with interference with radio and TV signals anywhere in the area of an engine running wire ignition conductors, and distributor cap and rotor contacts, and spark plug electrodes deteriorate very rapidly if the spark current isn't controlled by a resistor wire.

The fact that resistance-type conductors have been standard equipment on virtually all vehicles for over 50 years means it was probably a very good idea. I can't think of any reason to run wire conductors, even in most racing applications.
