Yes those replacement springs are hard to come by. Another way to go is to put a spring unit like the mid 80 chevy truck seat frames had. It is a wire unit with little coil springs in the back for give. Then put a thick foam unit on top. It tapers from about 5" in the back to around 6" in the front.
