The stock gear ratio on the '53 half ton,I believe,is a 4.10,so the '55 would be an improvement. Of course,I always recommend switching to 235/85R-16's if you don't already have 'em.going from a 235/75-15 th the 16's will give you about 10 to 15 more mph (depending on the brand)at the same rpm's.
