| | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 23 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 23 | I am installing a sbc/700r setup in my 56 TF. I have installed a 79 Firebird (Camaro) front clip and a 79 FB (Camaro) rear end. I am going to use the FB (Camaro) trans cross member.
I centered the trans tail shaft in the frame and bolted the cross member to the trans mount. I found the the cross member to be off center by almost a half inch. I then measured the pinion center line on the rear axle and discovered the pinion is also offset a half inch between the brake back plates.
What's going on here? Do I offset the tail shaft of the trans to match the rear end?
