That's the same question I asked the Doc last week, "How long have I got doc?" I'll bet you can guess what his answer was!
If your not having any problems with the engine then I would go with the 5K tune up that Tim reminds us of. As things wear then the clearances usually grow bigger and you will notice it starting to clatter more than normal, time to adjust the valves even if you’re not at the 5K mark.
When I did my valve job last year I was readjusting the valves every couple of months till things settled in. In this case as the valves settle into the seats the clearances close up and you can burn a valve if your not careful. Next time I won’t be in such a hurry to get it running and I'll do like Pop taught me 50 years ago and reassemble the head my self, after I hand lap the seats!
