When I bought my 1966 C-10 in 2006, it had not been driven much for about 7 years. It required about $1,300 in work before it was safe to use. It has a 283 and a Powerglide transmission.
Factory AC was a fairly rare option in these trucks. It sounds like you got a desirable truck.
You will find that these trucks are really easy to repair, and parts are readilly available. They are very dependable too.
