I've never used body panel adhesive but I imagine it's similar in composition to windscreen urethane bond.
If so it's incredibly strong but only as good as your preparation. Cleanliness is everything!
Personally I would prefer to weld in patch repairs,as far as I'm aware these adhesives are used mostly for fenders and non structural body components.
Someone may chime in and prove me wrong!
I do know that some of the carbon fibre supercar monocoque constructions are bonded together though. So it must be strong!
