A long time ago on stovebolt there was this guy name Phat and he was pretty much a jerk to everyone, but I liked him and he was to the point.
He ran a 500 cfm 2 bbl holley 2300 and drove like a maniac claiming it was the best carb ever made, blah blah blah
I put a 350 cfm holley 2300 on that I picked up from a circle tracker for $100, fabricated the linkage and loved it; less anemic than the one bbl, but with split exhaust and a home made HEI I was getting 18 mpg with stock 54 car gearing, made an excellent daily driver.
Not sure what year truck you have, if its an AD, get a 53 pedal with the V8 linkage and it is a lot easier than fabbing the rods. I spent hours making the linkage rods and should have made a copy of it before I gave it to a guy buying a 54 wagon from me.
I think I paid 10 bucks for the adapter at my local speed shop, but it may have been $16.
