I have a 4 bbl Quadra on a 307 Olds Y engine (not orig carb, non-electronic) A friend helped me rebuild it about 4 years ago. About a week ago, it would not start without pouring gas into the carb, then would run fine. The bottom plugs were sealed when it was rebuilt. I changed the fuel pump, and after that it would not remain running after pouring gas into the carb. I removed the fuel line and it is pumping fuel, I removed the fuel filter even though it looked OK, still will not remain running. I do not see any jets of fuel when the accel is depressed. I noticed that the accelerator pump rod was stuck down. I cleaned and loosened up but still not running. Do you think its the Accel pump or float? Why would switching the fuel pump make it completely cease to run? Is it hard to take just the top off to check these out?
Thanks
