I have just purchased my first stovebolt, 1958 3100 shortbox that came with a 350 installed. I cant seem to keep it running for some reason and when I release the clutch it stalls. The seller promises me that the engine was built at a speed shop several years ago and only has 10 miles on the motor at the most. The 2bbl rochester could be the problem and I cant find reverse or third gear. How hard would it be to replace the old three speed for an automatic transmission? any help is appreciated!!
