Dan, I haven't notice a problem between 1st and 2nd. The 292 has the bottom end torque of a 350 and with the 4.10 gears... My 292 will break the rear tires loose without much problem. I'm still running the stock intake with a Monojet. I've got an Offy intake and Quadrajet I was working on to replace the current carb and intake.
