When worried about matching numbers I save the original motor by pulling it and putting it away and then bolt in a go fast alternate. That way later on I have an original numbers matching engine if I go to sell and dont risk irrepairable damage to the original block. 500 caddy would be my choice although members here have 409's and other very desireable mills.
