How hard are you going to work the finished project? If it is not going to be worked too hard, the half ton running gear will work great.If you are going to do a lot of towing and hard playing ,I would stick with your original dream of 3/4 ton running gear.
There is enough good in the worst of us and enough bad in the best of us that it does not behoove any of us to criticize the rest of us.
