16000lb. gvw, would denote a 2 ton. A 1 1/2 ton, would be 14000lb. gvw. Being in the place you noted, doesn't sound like the manufacturer ID plate. On the '46, I had, the ID plate was under the hood, to the passenger side of the cowl. Check for this tag, for proper identification. Maybe someone on here can post a picture of the location for you.
