A month or so ago while working on my front end assembly I tore apart the front leaf springs, sanded down each leaf, installed new bushings, new center bolt,heated up clamps hammered them into place. Then painted the assembly.
Now I'm working on the rears and question if I should paint each leaf before assy (using ZR). I question if paint rubbing against paint will attract and retain dirt,etc. Also since I heated up the spring clips before hammering them back into place, I will undoubtedly be cooking up some nearby new paint when I do this step. I guess the worst thing is to then do a quick touch up at the clip areas.
Wonder if the paint will act as a lubricant between the leaf's.
