This scheme would reduce the available energy to the spark plug that is currently firing. I have a couple of engines that have distributorless ignitions that fire the plugs on each cylinder on the exhaust stroke as well as the compression stroke. I haven't noticed any differance in carbon build up, in fact the plug electrodes seem to wear out faster.
